The Challenge: Creating Custom and Shopify-Integrated Funnels Without Code

Before Replo, Liquor Loot’s ecommerce store used a different landing page software. The tool created sequences of pages for their landing page funnels, but Founder and CEO Joel Hauer found the platform to be too limiting.

Their landing pages lacked the deep integration with Shopify which enabled in-page checkout and subscriptions, both of which were vital for Liquor Loot’s spirits subscription business. In addition, the team wanted their pages to retain design cohesiveness across each step. They were looking for the ability to propagate common elements, such as the header and footer, between pages.

Finally, Liquor Loot was looking for a page building experience that was much more aligned to the level of customization offered on Figma. Rather than relying on the range of templates, fonts, or styles available on a given landing page builder, the team wanted a platform that provided a much more design-friendly approach to bringing the pixel-perfect designs they had in Figma onto their online store.

While Liquor Loot had two in-house developers, their time was occupied by higher leverage infrastructural and marketing operations work which contributed directly to the site’s core Shopify and SEO strategy. This included building pages that were deeply integrated with other sections of the website, such as updating the dashboard or redesigning the catalog page and blog pages.

Building a landing page from scratch, without any landing page builder, would have eaten up a significant portion of their developers’ time—time that the team could not spare. It would have meant uploading all the assets, building the pages in HTML and CSS, and then testing and QA-ing everything in-house to make sure the pages worked as intended. Given the developers’ present capacities, building landing pages from the ground up was out of the question.

Between the limits on design customization, the lack of deep Shopify integration, and the vast time sink that was required for building landing pages in-house, it was clear to Joel that they had to switch. It was time to search for a new—and better—page builder.

The Solution: Going Beyond Shopify’s Limits With Replo

As the founder, Joel went ahead and considered the landing page solutions out there that met Liquor Loot’s criteria. He discovered Replo.

The platform featured a vast range of educational resources—from in-depth blogs to YouTube tutorials to hundreds of top DTC brand-inspired templates. Joel was intrigued. He signed up for a 30-day trial, and started playing around to see just what was possible within Replo.

His conclusion was a straightforward one: Replo provided an unprecedented level of design customization, it delivered a Figma-esque page building experience, and it was code-free. Not only that, the Replo’s templates turned out to be a great boon during his page builder discovery process. It allowed Joel to start building in the editor almost immediately, and to quickly get familiar with how all the layers, sections, components, and integrations within the app worked.

Best of all, Replo’s templates provided a great brainstorming exercise for Liquor Loot to explore what was possible for a Shopify landing page by perusing what other well-known DTC brands were doing. It encouraged the business to think outside-of-the-box and to test different approaches on their own pages.

Upon handing off the tool to Liquor Loot’s in-house designer, the templates turned out to be a great source of inspiration. While the exact featured pages or sections could be browsed via a Google search, Replo’s Templates Library meant that all example pages and sections were accessible and searchable within a single database. Most importantly, each template came fully device-responsive, and could be customized in the editor in a few clicks.

By the end of 2022, Liquor Loot was a full Replo user.

The Results: Building Faster and More Creatively, No Developers Needed

Since onboarding with Replo, Liquor Loot’s page building process has become greatly streamlined and much more flexible. No longer does the team have to be bottlenecked by their in-house developers, who were often occupied with website fixes that held greater priority, or forced to rely on the specific themes or styles on Shopify. Now, the team’s marketing and design teams are able to brainstorm, build, and implement the designs onto the website themselves—all without writing a single line of code.

Their design process starts in Figma, taking anywhere between half a day to a couple days depending on the assets required, before everything is built directly in the Replo editor. The team can now easily reference past templates that they’ve already built, and then duplicate or tweak their exact designs for a new page. With the new Figma to Shopify with Replo plugin that allows copy and pasting designs from Figma directly into the Replo editor, this process will only be expedited even more.

A faster page building process means more than just an efficient workflow. It also means that the team can now take more creative approaches to their landing pages. Using Replo, the team can quickly experiment with tying the messaging in an email campaign or paid social advertisement to their landing page experience. The result? Greater cohesion in the brand identity that Liquor Loot puts out across all their paid and organic conversion funnel touch points.

In short, Replo has enabled the brand to create more high-quality pages with a lower investment in time and resources, while at the same time getting their desired returns in marketing campaigns. Moving forward, Joel sees the team experimenting and iterating on their pages with A/B testing (another feature already live in Replo) and greatly expanding on their landing page strategy—something they’d previously not had the bandwidth or resources to truly explore.

Liquor Loot has built a little over 30 pages on Replo since onboarding, with only more to come. As Joel concludes:
